This is a rather graphic stamp issued in/by Poland commemorating the killing that took place at the Maidanek Concentation Camp. Maidanek at its time of operation as a killing center, was situated in a major urban center just 4km from the City of Lublin on the eastern border of Poland. Prisoners were transported to Lublin in railroad cars where they disembarked. The prisoners were then loaded into trucks to the journey to the concentration camp. The Polish Home Army along with the Russians liberated Maidanek in July of 1944. Immediately after the liberation of the concentration camp a London Newspaper published photographs of the camp saying, "Irrefutable Proof of Organized Murder." The stamp was issued in April of 1946. It shows Death in Third Reich Nazi SS uniform pouring Zyklon B (used in the gas chambers) to murder the occupants of the camp. Zyklon B, Prussic Acid, was used only at Auschwitz and Maidanek.
